TELFORD, PA - FEBRUARY 7: Donna Weidemann, (L) of Chalfont, Pennsylvania, and Jean Campbell (R), of Telford, Pennsylvania, members of the Blue Star Mothers of America, hold Blue Star Flags, February 7, 2003, in Telford, Pennsylvania. Blue Star Mothers of America is a support group for family members of military personnel, which meets once a month to talk about their feelings, and the anxiety that comes with having a family member in the service. The group has been around since World War II, and once boasted a membership 500,000 mothers. In recent years the membership has dwindled to 800, but with the potential conflict with Iraq, the membership is expected to rise. Blue Star Flags are displayed by families who have a loved one serving in the armed force. The flag displayed in the front window of a home shows a family's pride in their loved one serving in the military, and reminds others that preserving America's freedom demands much.
